To help them achieve a very specific look for their new video, Directors Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones came to No Science.

UNKLE’s new album, Where Did the Night Fall, was released on May 10th 2010. The special edition of the album comes in a package that includes a booklet of song lyrics and sleeve notes, a gatefold pack housing two CDs and a book of imagery on heavy card. Printed on silver stock, the imagery that adorns it (created by Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones) possesses a powerful sensual charge. It features black and white studies of several top models (including Super Model Liberty Ross) in various states of décolletage shot in a manner that manages to be simultaneously classical and ultra-modern, erotic and semi-abstract.

Taking this imagery as its starting point, the video for the album’s first single, Follow Me Down (feat. Sleepy Sun), was directed by Du Preez and Thornton Jones, lensed by Daniel Landin and produced by Rokkit. Shot on a RED camera, the astonishing effects and looks were achieved almost entirely in camera using smoke, water, light and sheer craftsmanship.

The colour footage was then brought to No Science’s Stephane Allender who, working entirely on Flame, generated a look that successfully matched that of the album’s artwork.
